Free Wine Tasting & Pig On A Spit
With two successful Wine & Spit Roast dinners behind us, we’ve decided to host another on the 4th October. However, we’re doing things a little differently this time. Rather than a four course sit down dinner we’re keeping it more casual with free wine tastings hosted by coveted winemakers David Lehmann of the Barossa’s David Franz wines and Simon Killeen of Rutherglen’s Simao & Co.
You’ll slurp and swirl your way through interesting wines all the whilst inhaling delicious smells of the whole pig we’ll have roasting away on a spit. There will be plenty of delicious, slow roasted pork to go around so bring all of your friends.
Our Wine Tasting & Spit Roast event is going down on Wednesday the 4th October from 6 – 8.30pm.
Bookings recommended but not essential.
ABOUT THE WINEMAKERS
David Lehmann, David Franz Wines
Son of Barossa wine legends Peter and Margharet Lehmann, David Lehmann is one talented and extremely passionate wine maker. His wines are made with the highest quality fruit and not compromised for the sake of large yields. Love, care and attention to detail is rigorously applied from pruning right through to when the grapes are picked and sent to the winery. The grapes are nurtured for more than a year on the vines, crafted for a few months in the winery and matured for 4 years in wood and the bottle.
David Franz’ wine blends include a Carbernet, Shiraz, Grenache, Mataro, Rose’ varieties, Eden Valley riesling and sparkling cabernet.
Simon Killeen, Simao & Co
Hailing from Rutherglen in Victoria, Simon Killeen know from a very young age that he wanted to be a winemaker. After working in wineries across Australia, France & Portugal Simon returned to Rutherglen in 2014 where Simão was born. Interestingly, Simão is the portuguese interpretation of the name Simon.
Simon is passionate about making wine varietals that he believes reflect a particular suitability to the North East region of Victoria. As such, Simão & Co specialises in small batch wines, producing limited quantities of Tempranillo, Sauvignon Blanc, Ungi Blanc, Shiraz and vintage fortified.
When Simon’s not in the winery he’s camping, hiking and kicking a footy.
